I'm trying to research a mid 20's pick moving up to the top five, can't find one? Usually its a team in the five to ten range moving up for their pick and a less than stellar player. Be interesting to see what the second most arrogant man in hockey does! |

Ian Esplen: What's the deal for Nichushkin?
What's the deal? - IanEsplen
The oilers are coming. If you dont think that team is gona be a cup contender for the next ten years youve got problems. Its like 4 or5 20 year old kids are gona turn that brutal franchise around over night its not gona happen. Like all the other teams that started over, its gona take time. Playoffs this year and then look for a longer run in the years to follow. |

Maybe if you didn't have Kevin Lowe in charge, but you do, so that ain't gonna happen. |

Why do you bother writing anything at all?
Your post is so dumb it's not even worth commenting...Ah fack. - Scooby_Doo
So you slam me for saying Edler for a top five is a joke....but what about every other blogger here who agrees that ridiculous proposal is a joke? You just have an issue with me or do you really believe Edler would fetch anything? |

More importantly...is there anyone on this list that Fosco WOULD take over Edler?

Lol and after that the Canucks will trade Kessler to Colorado for the first overall and landesgog wake up man to move into the top five it would be more like elder +++++ and mod level defenseman does not equal a top five pick this offer is even worse then Garth's homer trades. |

there are only 6 or 7 guys on that list i'd for sure take edler over....the bolded ones. that means there is atleast an 80% chance of getting a player better then edler in the top 5.............and this is supposed to be one of the deepest drafts in years. |

This team doesn't need someone to be better than Edler for the next three years, they need someone to be better than the Sedins IN three (or so) years. If you are getting an Ovechkin/Malkin/Crosby/Staal type player, go for it! |

These trade proposals are so entertaining. If only other teams GM's were as dumb as you think they are. Gillis would be a genius and Vancouver would be a great team. |

Exactly.
If the shoe were on the other foot, and the Canucks had the top-5 pick, and some team called them and offered their Edler for the Canucks' top-5 pick, all they'd hear would be a dial tone. |

he's better then players who are unanimously considered busts, several years after they were drafted........he's not worth more than a potential phenom, before he's played in an nhl game. |

All right folks... Let me remind you of the rules here.
You can discuss the proposal and disagree with Ian, but you can't attack him personally. If you don't think Edler's worth a top 5 pick, tell us why... don't just come out and call it a laughable proposal.
This is the only warning I'll issue. |

as the lightning i would want your first rounder. edler. and one of your top 6 forwards at minimum for the top 3 pick. and thats bare minimum. and you wont be getting any of our roster players back thats for sure. you want that pick you will have to overpay big time. and we wouldnt draft the player then trade him right away. yzerman would lose a lot of respect from prospects for that. we would trade the pick before we made it but i still dont think he would do it. yzerman has said he wont trade away our future for the now. drouin, nish, or jones is our options. cuz colorado would take mack and florida would take drouin over jones and we arent trading the pick if we have a shot at jones we will take him for sure. |

So there is about a 25-40% (depending on opinion)chance Vancouver will be getting the worse player and people want Vancouver to add 2-3 players to the deal...
why exactly... |

Edler is a big, young allstar D who has scored at a .60 point/game clip over the past 4 seasons, hits like a truck, blocks shots, and is signed to a good contract for 6 more years.
I don't think Methot is a good comparable.

It's called "doing business".
And these teams in the top-5 hold most of the cards. |

It would be refreshing to see a top 5 offensive talent drafted by the Canucks. Nichushkin makes them bigger and younger. However putting a package together to move up will be a challenge for MG as his trades to date have been questionable to say the least. Move salary, get younger and bigger. Adjust to the new NHL. Whether it’s via trades at the draft or not, the time to procrastinate is over, look where it got Tambellini! |
